The Birgitta Sintring Scholarship Fund promotes basic research in ecology and genetics. Annual scholarships are awarded to “specially selected, best-performing researchers” affiliated with the Department of Ecology and Genetics at Uppsala University.

"With this donation, I want to honor my wife Birgitta Sintring and hopefully contribute to Uppsala University remaining one of the world's top hundred universities. The university's portal figure is Carl von Linne and it is natural to direct the donation to young researchers conducting basic research within the Linnaeus Faculty who are researching sustainability. I hope that my initiative can get well-off business colleagues to generously support basic research at the Swedish university."
